Harnessing the Power of EMC
Over the past year, our members have been increasingly concerned with rising energy costs and security of supply, as the volatility of market deregulation has left many electricity and natural gas business consumers at the mercy of price increases and uncertainty. This was highlighted at our conference last May and remains a key issue. EMC has developed a comprehensive EMC Energy Initiative for 2008, with three focus areas emerging as priority for immediate member action.

The EMC Advantage 2.7 billion dollars was awarded to Canadian businesses in 2006 through cheques and credits arising from SR&ED project claims.  EMC, realizing the potential for member companies, has undertaken a massive effort to ensure every manufacturer knows how to receive benefits under the SR&ED program.  So many companies shy away from potential SR&ED claims because of misconceptions surrounding qualifying activities and the work required to ‘get it done’.  One key misconception involves the notion that only white coat activities qualify.  We know different!  In particular, activities related to Continuous Improvement undertaken to drive your business forward, may qualify for significant SR&ED Dollars.
