ManufacturingGPS

ManufacturingGPS is a fully searchable interactive LMI system, with benchmarking, skills and capability resources, reports and outreach portal to better help the manufacturing sector by providing a crucial and unique tool that currently does not exist in Canada today! This macro-level LMI resource with the flexibility of micro-level detail, combined with EMC's extensive consortium and online network will better position Canadian manufacturers on the global productivity map. There is no cost for industry to participate in ManufacturingGPS.

2020 ManufacturingGPS Initiative

As you may know, EMC has been collecting and updating labour market information and HR benchmarks, such as compensation levels and turnover rates since 2015. This interactive online resource provides key information and benchmarking tools to help manufacturers develop the workforce they need.

To complete the survey, you may need to access your company’s administrative data (e.g., number of staff by occupation, turnover rates, salaries/wages).

Experience in Training

This year, EMC has partnered with the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation (SRDC) to test a pay for performance funding model as part of EMC’s innovative Manufacturing Essentials Certification training program. This project is funded by the Future Skills Centre and will be launched in January 2021.

As part of this project, we have added a section to the ManufacturingGPS survey exploring your experiences in training, preferences for financial and non-financial incentives, and various funding models that can encourage investment in training.

Confidentiality

The information you share in this survey will remain confidential. We will never identify you or your company, and we will only use aggregate results in our analysis.

Beyond a traditional research / sector study, ManufacturingGPS will assess the Human Capital/Resources and Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) needs for all Canadian manufacturing sectors, focusing on the collection, analysis and ultimately better dissemination of LMI through a fully accessible next-generation technology platform.

This project is funded by the Government of Canada's Labour Market Partnerships-Sector Initiatives Program and will be fully accessible to four key target audiences:

  • Canadian manufacturing firms
  • Post-secondary Institutions
  • Industry Stakeholders
  • All levels of government

ManufacturingGPS will be engaging manufacturing employers across the country. Through its national audience, EMC will begin this initiative with direct-to-industry outreach that will utilize EMC's thriving primary consortium and online audience of over 40,000 manufacturing employers, to encourage participation and engage industry leaders to help shape ManufacturingGPS for all Canadian manufacturing sectors.

EMC currently helps its audience source opportunities through its member network. ManufacturingGPS will continue to grow this to a much larger scale. ManufacturingGPS is constantly being developed and will continue to find new ways to provide manufacturers, universities, colleges, and government with the information they need to better identify future workforce trends and integrate effective solutions
