It goes without saying that 2020 was a year like no other for manufacturers in SW Ontario. This year has also been the most active year for the Consortium. The level of local manufacturers working together to help each other grow and continuously improve had never been higher.

In 1918, having developed a desire to stay in Canada and learning of a defunct metal working company in Walkerton that manufactured saddle hardware, Carl Larsen set out on horseback to make the 160 km trip from Woodstock. He liked what he saw and a partnership with Farquhar Shaw was formed.

We are living in exciting times, and no sector
demonstrates this better than manufacturing in Grey
County. Despite the closure of a few long-standing
landmarks in the local area in recent years, there are
still dozens of manufacturers who are thriving in the
region, growing their products and their staff at the
same time. The economic benefits are realized not only
by the local community, but also by the very employees
that have the good fortune to work and live in such a
