A year goes by in the Blink of an Eye!

My hope at the end of every year is that our activity has been relevant to the needs of local manufacturing companies and the people in them.

Throughout this past year we have had great events throughout NB and PEI, highlighted by a cross province event on Automation benchmarking and the ‘Future of Manufacturing’ national conference in Vaughn, Ontario. At which we were thrilled to have an Atlantic Canada Delegation of 60 manufacturing representatives attend to show the support of ACOA.

Through regular networking, we have addressed topics put forward from members regarding:

  • Engagement
  • Worksafe NB & safety updates
  • What’s new with employment law
  • Roadmap to Automation
  • Benchmarking on Automation
  • Accelerating Change
  • Cannabis and Substance abuse (that was a biggy!)
  • Succession Planning
  • Engaging the younger generations
  • Benchmarking tours

….to name a few!

Late this year also saw the premier event and benchmarking discussion with a specific focus on productivity and continuous improvement. This will become a quarterly event in both NB & PEI and will cover topics seen as challenges or critical to successful productivity improvement. Premier CI Event Summary

I had an opportunity to attend several graduations and presentations for the Manufacturing Essential Skills Certificate program and have been impressed over and over again by what graduates put forward as solutions for their organizations and the engagement and empowerment that comes with it. Stay tuned as this opportunity continues to evolve through 2020.

Like other regions across Canada, we are very fortunate to have relationships with subject matter experts willing to make themselves available for discussions where that expertise is required. In addition, the relationship with partners in government is very valuable and, when the situation is right, is an opportunity to collaborate on value added projects and programs.

Lastly and most importantly, the participation of our members and their willingness to host events, continues to support our ‘Share and Steal with Pride’ philosophy.

My wish for you is to a very merry and safe Christmas and Holiday Season. I look forward to what 2020 has to offer.
