Recently, safety professionals from across Nova Scotia met virtually to hear from WCB’s outgoing Relationship Manager, Marc DesRoches. The focus of the presentation was what to expect from a Department of Labour COVID-19 compliance audit as well as how WCB is managing ongoing claims impacted by COVID-19.

The key takeaway for the event was to ensure that your staff demonstrate what is documented in your safety procedures and protocols. It isn’t enough, and never has been, to have a safety policy that isn’t adhered to in actions as well as words. Those attending were able to asks questions and share their experiences related to the topic. Some helpful links were provided included this one from WCB’s Work Safe for Life website: http://www.worksafeforlife.ca/covid19

There have been 39 COVID-19 cases deemed to be contracted in the workplace here in Nova Scotia; none of them are associated with manufacturing. This is a direct result of the hard work you - as safety professionals - have put into place during this pandemic. On behalf of the 36,000+ manufacturing workforce in Nova Scotia - I thank you!
