Congratulations Fall EMC Harvard Supervisory Certificate Program Graduates!

Another successful program session was experienced by all who participated in the EMC - Harvard Supervisory Certificate Program Fall 2021 session. This certification continues to make such a positive difference in career paths, day-to-day responsibilities and will contribute to the success of many participating companies! EMC is also excited about the opportunity to assist future participants and manufacturers in the upcoming Spring 2022 program session.

The 2021 Fall Session successfully wrapped up with a group of 30 Supervisors, Managers and Team Associates, and their Managers, from 8 companies who came together virtually to complete their EMC - Harvard Supervisory Certificate program.

As part of the EMC - Harvard Supervisory Certificate program, participants completed online supervisory skill tutorials which included Problem Solving, Process Improvement, Difficult Interactions, Feedback, Team Building, Leadership, Coaching and Presentation Skills, in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing. Additionally, they attended weekly Webinars, collaborated through a Knowledge Network and prepared a Workplace Performance Project geared towards solving a problem or creating a new opportunity for their companies.  The Workplace Performance Projects completed and presented by all participants, are expected to collectively increase profitability and/or save the companies thousands of dollars.

Participating companies from Ontario, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and PEI included:  BioVectra Inc., Innovative Automation, J. Oskam Steel Fabricators, Ramsden Industries, Dunrite Rubber and Plastic, Bosco and Roxy’s Inc., Airboss Rubber Solutions and Northam Beverages.

As part of their program, these graduates tackled Workplace Performance Projects which included the following challenges and topics:

  • Standardized Information Turnover Process Improvement
  • Standardize Location of Project Information
  • Improving the Consistency of Communication between Sales and Apps to Design
  • Onboarding New Supervisor and Leads – Internal/External
  • Training Process for New Employees
  • Weld Shop SOS
  • Reducing Turn Around Times in Shipping
  • Financial Comparison of Robot Defects and Product Rework
  • Improvement on Strip Dimension Defects
  • Damaged and Obsolete Inventory Control

These graduates are directly contributing to the overall Workplace Performance Projects (from 2009 to 2021), representing a total impact of millions of dollars in cost, time and efficiency savings in Canadian manufacturing workplaces.  Since 2009, this program has certified hundreds of participants representing over 100 manufacturers.
