Congratulations Winter EMC Harvard Supervisory Certificate Program Graduates!

Another successful Program session was experienced by all who participated in the EMC - Harvard Supervisory Certificate Program Winter 2021 session. This certification continues to make such a positive difference in career paths, day-to-day responsibilities and will contribute to the success of many participating companies! (EMC) Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium is also excited about the opportunity to assist future participants and manufacturers in the upcoming Fall 2021 Program session.

The 2021 Winter Session successfully wrapped up with a group of Supervisors, Managers and Team Associates and their Managers from 13 companies who came together virtually through Zoom technology on March 26th to complete their EMC - Harvard Supervisory Certificate program. 

As part of the EMC - Harvard Supervisory Certificate program, participants completed online supervisory skill tutorials which included Problem Solving, Process Improvement, Difficult Interactions, Feedback, Team Building, Leadership, Coaching and Presentation Skills, in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing. Additionally, they attended weekly Webinars, collaborated through a Knowledge Network and prepared a Workplace Performance Project geared towards solving a problem or creating a new opportunity for their companies.  The Workplace Performance Projects completed and presented by all participants, are expected to collectively increase profitability and/or save the companies thousands of dollars. 

Participating companies from Ontario, British Columbia and New Brunswick included:  Muskoka Brewery, Innovative Automation, BOS Innovations, Tradition Fine Foods, MacLean Engineering, Sabian, Jungbunzlauer, Electrical Contacts Limited, Clarion Medical Technologies, Ngen, Vista Pro Architectural Railing Division, Copernicus Educational Products and Dunrite Rubber & Plastic.

These recent graduates tackled Workplace Performance Projects which included the following challenges and topics:

  • Material Prep Request System
  • More Beer – Happier People
  • Project Transfer – Electrical Design
  • Cross Training and Collaborative Onboarding
  • Improving Depositing Process on the Line
  • Right Pick Right Time
  • Defects
  • Equipment Maintenance Specifications
  • Reduction of Nonconformance Initiative
  • Improve Efficiency of Service Parts Return Process
  • Single Source Data Reporting
  • The More You Know the Better it Flows
  • Time Tracking System
  • Organize and Optimize Conveyor Belt Yard

These graduates are directly contributing to the overall Workplace Performance Projects (from 2009 to 2021), representing a total impact of millions of dollars in cost, time and efficiency savings in Canadian manufacturing workplaces.  Since 2009, this program has certified hundreds of participants representing over 100 manufacturers.

We are pleased to announce that the next session of the EMC - Harvard Supervisory Certificate program is expected to run from September 20, 2021 through until November 26, 2021.  Come and join us for this great virtual opportunity!!
