It has been a very busy Fall in Eastern Ontario and as the New Year ebbs ever closer, on behalf of all of us at EMC, we wish you the very best of the Holiday Season!

We have had two fabulous sessions in both the Cornwall and Brockville Regions during the Fall that have brought together both industry and Community Partner Stakeholders.

Our first event was with the Ministry of Labour who provided us with the latest information on current legislative issues.  We also enjoyed a presentation regarding EMC’s ManufacturingGPS and our Labour Market Survey.  In light of upcoming changes, the Ministry of Labour will be joining us again in February 2019 to update our group on what is new.

In November, we were pleased to have Chad Metcalf, President of Value Stream Solutions, join us to share thoughts and insight on “The Path to Operational Excellence”.  There was some interesting discussion during these sessions and networking opportunities for those in attendance.

Very, very special thanks to our Hosts and Presenters:  Municipalité de Russell Township, Employment + Education Centre, Dynamic Closures, INVISTA Canada Co., Ministry of Labour, EMC’s Manufacturing GPS, and Value Stream Solutions!

We are kicking the New Year off with a warm welcome to Steve Holmgren, our new Field Service Advisor for Eastern Ontario.  He is looking forward to meeting you, learning more about your companies, and garnering insight on current challenges and opportunities.

Our Schedule for 2019 has been prepared and we have some wonderful topics lined up including:

  • Business Growth through Exporting
  • Training and Learning Opportunities; Employee Testing and Performance Evaluations
  • Ministry of Labour – ESA Update
  • Overview and Outlook on Ontario’s Energy Market; Legislation and Programs; Cap and Trade Cancellation Impact and Global Adjustment Update
  • Talent Attraction and Retention Practices
  • Generating Continuous Improvement Opportunities
  • Business Development; Cultivating a Mindset of Growth
  • Developing and Fostering a Culture of Engagement
  • Attendance Management
  • Job Fair Opportunity with Procter & Gamble

We are always seeking input from our valued Members and if there is something that you would like to see added to our list of topics, please do not hesitate to touch base.  Additionally, we have Hosting opportunities available and should you wish to engage in that regard, let us know – we would be delighted to hear from you!

Looking further ahead in the New Year, don’t forget to mark your calendars for EMC’s National Future of Manufacturing Conference scheduled from October 8th through 10th at the Universal Event Space in Vaughan!  It will be an Event that you do not want to miss!

On behalf of all of us at EMC, I want to thank you so much for your warm hospitality – it has been a pleasure working with you and getting to know your companies!

Wishing you a wonderful, wonderful holiday season and the very, very best for 2019 too!

Happy Holidays!
