Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) proudly congratulates another group of 19 graduates on their achievement and Certification from the Spring 2020 EMC – Harvard Supervisory Certificate Program.
The group successfully completed the 10-week Program and received their Certification during their final virtual workshop on June 12th. Due to the current challenges with Covid, this typical final in-person event, was an amazing success and was held utilizing virtual technology. Managers were also in attendance to share in the success of the Certification.
This Certification will make such a positive difference in career paths and will contribute to the success of the many participating companies.
The Spring 2020 graduation roster included participants from the following companies: Innovative Automation Inc., Canplas Industries Ltd., Airboss Rubber Solutions, Gates Canada, Sierra Supply Chain Services, ON Semiconductor and Marsan Foods.
As part of the Program, which was delivered 100% utilizing online technology, participants completed online supervisory skill tutorials which included Problem Solving, Process Improvement, Difficult Interactions, Feedback Essentials, Team Building, Leadership, Presentation Preparation and Coaching skills, in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing. Additionally, for the past 10 weeks, they attended weekly Webinars, collaborated through a Knowledge Network and prepared a Workplace Performance Project geared towards solving a problem or creating a new opportunity for their companies. The Workplace Performance Projects completed and presented by all participants, are expected to collectively increase profitability and/or save the companies thousands of dollars which is amazing.
Collectively, the Spring 2020 Session participants tackled Workplace Performance Projects which included the following challenges:
- Lamacoid Creation Improvement
- Waste Improvements
- Mold Base Scrapping
- Scrap Rubber Improvement
- First Off Processes
- Preventing Product Loss on Multiple Lines
- Count Verification Improvement
- Lack of Preventive Maintenance/Equipment Failures
Since 2009, the Program’s participants are directly contributing to the overall Workplace Performance Projects (from 2009 to 2020), representing a total impact of millions of dollars in cost, time and efficiency savings in Canadian manufacturing workplaces. In total, to-date, this program has certified hundreds of participants representing over 100 manufacturers. Due to the Program’s huge success, many of these companies register participants in just about every program offering!
