Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) proudly congratulates another group of 26 graduates on their achievement and Certification from the Fall 2019 EMC – Harvard Supervisory Certificate Program.
The group successfully completed the 10-week Program and received their Certification at a graduation ceremony on November 15th. This achievement was greeted by a round of applause by the participant’s Managers who were also in attendance to share in the success of the Certification.
This Certification will make such a positive difference in career paths and will contribute to the success of the many participating companies.
The Fall 2019 Graduation was hosted at Innovative Automation Inc. at their wonderful first-class facility in Barrie, Ontario and the participating companies included: Innovative Automation Inc., Resistance Welding Products, Armo Tool, Amphenol Canada Corp., Napoleon, HFI Pyrotechnics, Checkfluid and Highland Foundry.
As part of the Program, participants completed online supervisory skill tutorials which included Problem Solving, Process Improvement, Difficult Interactions, Team Building, Leadership and Coaching skills, in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing. Additionally, for the past 10 weeks, they attended weekly Webinars, collaborated through a Knowledge Network and prepared a Workplace Performance Project geared towards solving a problem or creating a new opportunity for their companies. The Workplace Performance Projects completed and presented by all participants, are expected to collectively increase profitability and/or save the companies thousands of dollars which is amazing.
Collectively, the Fall 2019 Session participants tackled Workplace Performance Projects which included the following challenges:
- Automated Priority List
- Electrical Drawing Update Process
- Standard Operation Procedure for Tooling Purchases
- Post Project Wrap-Up Meetings
- Stockroom Process Improvement
- Keeping 5S Alive
- Production Line Improvement
- Process Standardization
- Plant Scheduling
Since 2009, the Program’s participants are directly contributing to the overall Workplace Performance Projects (from 2009 to 2019), representing a total impact of millions of dollars in cost, time and efficiency savings in Canadian manufacturing workplaces. In total, to-date, this program has certified hundreds of participants representing over 100 manufacturers.
