| ||Shepherd promotes the use of materials which come from recycled plastics wherever possible. We offer our clients recycled PET packaging which is made from up to 100% post-consumer-recycled PET (e.g. water bottles). To state this clearly, this means that our incoming RPET raw materials can be derived solely from blue box collection programs, at no added cost to our clients. In 2016 Shepherd processed close to 4,000,000 lbs. of RPET - equivalent to diverting roughly 43,000,000 water bottles from landfill. After forming our products, we also ensure that 100% of the left-over web materials are reground, recycled and end up in a variety of other plastic products:|
We also offer PLA ( Polylactic acid) which is a biodegradable/compostable polyester manufactured from plant based resources such as corn starch. Other exciting possibilities for improved recycling and composting are under development which will further enhance the sustainability of our products.
- PET and RPET is recycled again into new RPET sheet for use back here at Shepherd.
- All other web materials such as HIPS, PP, HMWPE, PVC and ABS are reground and converted for use in other consumer products such as composite wood decking, Vinyl Siding and Carpeting
For over 30 years Shepherd Thermoforming and Packaging has been respected in the North American market place for custom thermoforming design, development , prototyping and manufacturing. Our production facility is located in Brampton, Ontario, one hour away from the United States border and minutes from the Toronto airport. In 2006 we purchased our current 45,000 square foot building and added several modern production lines to bolster our commitment to the business while improving the services offered. In 2015 Shepherd attained SQF (Safe Quality Food) certification supplying food producers with plastic packaging and material handling parts that passes rigorous food safety requirements.
From concept to final product, Shepherd is a fully integrated, ISO 9001:2008 approved thermoforming company. With our design, development and production handled in-house, our clients are provided with a complete one-stop solution. Initial ideas come to life via an engineered drawing, followed by a fully working prototype sample, and finally in the form of the production product. Offering both fully automated roll-fed (thin gauge) and sheet-fed (heavy gauge) forming lines gives us unmatched capabilities in the market.
