Regional manufacturers gather again at SureShot Solutions to compare notes on Continuous Improvement methods and to hear a special presentation.
A large group filled the big room at SureShot to once again share experiences and challenges. The response to this event shows that CI is high on the list for a lot of companies and justifiably so. Without constant improvement you will lose any advantages you might have in the market you serve. Following a round table introduction and EMC update the group got down to business.
Everyone shared their perspective on CI what has worked, what hasn’t, what they are doing now, how they are doing it, where they struggle, where they have seen success, what they have done in the past, why they have thrown in the towel on ‘lean’ and what they hoped to get out of the morning event.
The group was clearly made up of the full spectrum of companies and situations and the stories generated lots of good exchanges and, in some cases, laughs!
The group was all ears for the presentation...
After a short break the group met Gary Cox who was a former Master Black Belt dealing with Lean Six Sigma at Canada Post now with Barrington Consulting. Gary gave a very comprehensive, compelling and very practical intro and overview of the methodologies and processes that are the foundation of Lean Six Sigma. He presented the DMAIC method and broke each component down to understandable application level language. The group step through Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control again using a logical and example based presentation. The presentation was followed by a lot of targeted questions and the group discussed the challenges such as communication and change management that often are the pitfalls that stop CI initiatives. Lots to discuss here and Gary even gave everyone a copy of a very ingenious ‘lean’ comic book he co-created which can be used to get the message out into production so folks are not blindsided by the ‘new’ way of doing things.
Following the event, the group had a walk through SureShot to see how they are striving to Improve what they do.... seeing it in person makes all the difference!
A great event and lots of excellent conversations in the room, well done to those who participated!
Thanks to Gary and to our hosts at SureShot your support is always appreciated!
