A Safety - CI Focused member driven initiative
January, April & June saw three great companies host in bringing people together to help each other improve safety in their workplaces. Specifically, this SIG was created by the members who are seriously interested in accelerating their Hazards Analysis & Risk Assessment processes.
Two key components driving the events are identification of the following:
HAZARD: any source of potential damage, harm or adverse health effects on something or someone under certain conditions at work.
RISK: the probability that a person will be harmed or experience an adverse health effect if exposed to a hazard.
These members have spent time exchanging tools they use, walking out to the plant floor and helping each other identify the Hazards that they may be overlooking or haven’t yet seen as well as help each other assess the risk and probability or likelihood of an unfortunate incident or loss(human or equipment) happening.
They help each other define and improve on:
- The processes they have in place for Identifying Hazards?
- The key measurements in assessing Risk?
- Addressing and prioritizing what actions will be taken to eliminate or minimize the risk?
Thanks to the following companies for hosting, leading the way and continually improving on how things are done to create a safer workplace for everyone. Congratulations were also due this week to Johnsonite Tarkett who have just celebrated a Decade of No Lost Time!

Let myself or your local FSA know if you are interested in participating with hosting a group of individuals in your plant and in helping each other improve your HARA processes.
Until the next time…
