EMC partnered with the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre, Cambridge Economic Development Office, and Ontario Ministry of Labour, to present an overview of Employment Standards and how they affect manufacturers in Ontario.
On March 20, the room was packed with local manufacturers, eager to get some details regarding recent changes to employment standards in Ontario. Geoff Becker, Regional Coordinator with the Ministry of Labour, presented detailed information, including:
- basic employment regulations
- public holiday pay
- vacation pay
- leave of absence
- documentation requirements
- notice of termination
- severance pay
- temporary help provisions
- inspection investigation process and enforcement of non-compliance
The discussion was robust, with lots of questions, that Geoff responded to with good detail and specificity, and interaction amongst the attendees.
