Interesting place for Engineers and other curious folks like me…
In case you haven’t heard, there is a new Canadian Centre for Product Validation in London, Ontario. It is a Government of Canada funded project and is also in partnership with Fanshawe College. This month a group of members from various regions of Ontario visited the centre to learn more about their equipment and capabilities. This article covers what we saw and some of what we learned. I hope it provides enough information to pique your curiosity too.
The Canadian Centre for Product Validation’s purpose is to bridge the gap between innovation and commercialization through product validation. Their comprehensive suite of electrical, mechanical, environmental, thermal, and performance tests and a CFD simulation capability provide a world-class multimodal testing facility with integration across several functional areas. Not only will your product receive a “pass” or “fail” outcome, they work with you to develop solutions to ensure product success enhanced by their commercialization capacity to help clients get their products to market faster. CCPV has the capabilities to service a number of advanced manufacturing sectors – Aerospace, Automotive, Building Products, Consumer Goods, Health Medical and Dental, Safety, Military and Defence and Renewable Energy.
A special Thank You goes out to our Guest Client Speaker: FPH Group(1997) - Tom DePace, EE, MEng, Engineering Team Leader!
Tom shared their relationship with CCPV, the agile and joint collaborative business model to find a solution not just test, and working with the equipment suite for multi-modal testing. FPH Group is a Hydraulic Parts Distribution Company. Over the years, FPH Group evolved into a Manufacturer of Engineered Products, primarily supplying the Defense industry.
CCPV’s location in Southwestern Ontario means that you do not have to send products or components overseas for validation. CCPV can perform multiple testing modalities with their suite of 10 different testing bays so companies only need to seek out one facility. CCPV is a large flex-space for companies to make use of, and six hoteling offices for clients who need to stay and work with our team and their products. Mechatronics, Product Design Review and Design Validation are core competencies, supported by Thermal Vibration, 3m EMC and full-vehicle Acoustic chambers. CCPV is a 1 of 3 World-Class facilities globally. The CCPV is open to collaboration with private sector testing labs in order to provide a broad array of testing capabilities for industry. If you do get a chance to visit…ask them why the building has that space that randomly is set apart and jets out from the building…
Hint - it was thoughtfully designed this way to represent how they operate.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to them with any projects you may have in mind. Few members from our visit have already begun discussions… Of course I would like to hear how it goes if you can and would like to share your story too.
Until the next time…
