EMC members in Eastern Ontario were given three separate opportunities to attend a SIG with an “Energy” focus. Our hosts for these three SIGs were:
1. Central Wire in Perth ON (October 16, 2012)
2.Con-Tech Systems Ltd in Elizabethtown ON (October 17, 2012) and
3.Robinson Solutions Inc. in Kingston ON (October 18, 2012).

Approximately fifteen high school teachers from the Limestone District School Board (LDSB) were invited by two EMC member plants to tour their facilities and participate in a discussion regarding the challenges manufacturers have been facing and strategies being used to become highly competitive players in their markets. Feedback from teachers was that they were extremely impressed by the organization, cleanliness and positive atmosphere in both plants. “This environment is not what we have been led to believe exits in manufacturing plants” was a common reaction.

An enthusiastic, energetic and sharing group of EMC members gathered at Guildcrest Building Corporation in Morewood, ON recently to learn the basics regarding establishing effective Key Performance Indicators (KPIs/metrics) and share experiences in tracking and communicating metrics in their plants. This topic was requested by maintenance staff who met a year ago at the Greenfield Ethanol plant in Johnstown.

The Madoc Arts Centre, in beautiful downtown Madoc, ON provided a very apt fall location for a follow-up to a Spring 2011 Supply Chain Management discussion held in Trenton, Ontario.
