On Oct 19th 24 London/Oxford EMC Members opened their doors to close to 500 local High School Students...WOW!
On Oct 19th 24 London/Oxford EMC Members opened their doors to close to 500 local High School Students. This is the largest such activity in Ontario and Canada as far as I know. EMC Members have been opening their doors to local high schools tours for tours for the past 5 years. But the 2016 edition of this activity proved to be the largest to date. Students for the Thames Valley District School Board as well as students from the London District Catholic School Board participated in the tours. The Students ranged from grade 9 to 11, which each school visiting two different plants for tours. The tours took place all over the region, in London , Strathroy, Ingersoll, Woodstock, Tillsonburg, & Aylmer, 25 High Schools participated.
EMC Members are always very supportive of this endeavor. Showing youth what a modern manufacturing facility is all about goes a long way towards encouraging kids to consider a career in manufacturers. Many of these kids are their future employees, they need them to continue to grow and be successful.
Big thanks to these EMC Members for opening there doors!

Both schools arrived and were enthusiastic to see how we manufacture. The WCI group were excellent and noticed by others here at IMT as a great group of kids. We look forward to hosting more groups in the future. I hope they all enjoyed the tour as much as we did hosting.

Making this happen all in one morning is a huge logistical challenge...Organizing the Plants, the Schools, the buses is a major project. I would like to thank all the Plants for opening there doors to the students. I would also like to thank London/Oxford/Elgin Workforce Development for their assistance.
