J.D. Sweid Foods in Waterloo is hosting a special BBQ on June 10th to help raise awareness and funds for JDRF (the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
At a recent SIG Networking Event in Breslau, Doug Campbell, Operations Manager for J.D.Sweid Foods shared information on a special initiative they have underway to raise awareness and funds for JDRF (the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
For the last 11 years our business has partnered with JDRF in fundraising for this great cause.
Originally when the business was owned by Elmira Poultry there were a number of stakeholders in the business affected by type 1 diabetes. This was the catalyst to begin supporting the JDRF. Over the years the event has become a staple in the annual events calendar and has carried over to JD Sweid in the last five years. The participation has had a positive impact on our culture and we truly feel a sense of ownership and accomplishment in ensuring the fundraising is a success year after year.
Every one of our team members and business contacts has been touched by this disease and we're confident that with the help of our efforts we'll find a cure!
In times when company events like picnics and parties are all more difficult to afford, an event like this provides an opportunity to socialize with our team as well as provide support for a worthy cause!
