Presenting an opportunity to grow, to network, and to think outside the proverbial box as we seek input for the development of our EMC Food Sector Network Schedule of Events for 2010!
This past year has been one filled with learning and networking opportunities for those involved in the Food and Beverage Sector throughout Ontario. EMC Canada together with OMAFRA and our Community Partners has endeavoured to provide informal collaborative knowledge based sessions that allow for benchmarking, learning and networking between peers.
We have visited the communities of Cornwall, Kingston, Brockville, Napanee, Belleville, Peterborough, Whitby, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Brampton, Milton, Guelph, Brantford, Woodstock, Thorold, Chatham and Tilbury this year.
Our roundtable networking topics came from Manufacturers, Processors and Growers from across the Province in February 2009 and we have tried our best to provide highly informative networking opportunities and guest speaker events which allow those in this sector to garner new ideas, develop contacts, and to learn from peers. Those sessions have allowed us to explore:
Corporate Culture and Continuous Improvement
Global Food Safety Initiative
Leveraging Customer and Supplier Relationships
Building Industry Partnerships with Government, Community Partners and the Processor
Employment Update Including Attendance Management and H1N1Issues
As we look ahead to 2010, your input is greatly appreciated in our efforts to prepare a Schedule of Events that provides value-added, informative and collaborative peer to peer learning opportunities for you. Your answers, thoughts, perspectives and comments are most welcome as we develop the 2010 Schedule of Events.
1. What is your biggest challenge, weakness or threat - the issue that keeps you awake at night - the barrier that prevents your organization from being competitive, innovative, self-sufficient, proactive rather than reactive, attractive to new hires, etc.?
2. What is the greatest opportunity to aid in your growth and development?
3. Are you interested in networking with your peers on any of the following topics and if so, is there a particular aspect of the subject that interests you?
* Continuous Improvement
* Lean Management
* Environmental Issues
* Customers and Suppliers
* Advertising and Marketing
* Employment Issues
* Health and Safety
* Funding and SR&ED
4. If you could benchmark with another company - what would be the greatest learning opportunity to enhance your day to day activities?
As in this past year, our Food Sector Networking Events will be held across the Province in as many areas as we can to bring the information and expertise available close to you. We are always very appreciative to any of our Food Sector Participants who are interested in hosting an Event and if you would like to do this in 2010, please let me know as soon as you can.
We are also extremely fortunate to have our National Advantage Through Excellence Conference scheduled from May 10-12th, 2010 in Hamilton with a Food Sector Stream attached. This will form part of our networking opportunities and I certainly invite you to share any best practices you have or thoughts from previous presentations or ideas on topics to address so that our Conference will be interesting and informative and a value-added activity from a participation standpoint. This promises to be an excellent opportunity to benchmark with others and to learn from experiences, meet industry leaders, share innovative ideas and grow as a result of collaboration and the opportunity to learn from others.
Your answers to the questions above and your thoughts with regard to the Conference would be greatly appreciated as we move forward to develop our roundtable networking events for 2010. If you have any ideas or suggestions for improvement as well, we would be delighted to hear from you at any time. Please email me at email@example.com with my deepest thanks in advance for your input!
On behalf of all of us at EMC Canada, our very best wishes for a wonderful and happy holiday season ahead!
I look forward to continuing our learning adventure in 2010!
Best wishes always!
