Excellence In Manufacturing Consortium is very proud to be an Industry Partner at this year's BLOOM Sustainability Applied 2013! This is an excellent two-day event that presents an opportunity to connect with others - bringing together industry leaders, innovative thinkers, and panelists who are eager to share their knowledge and experience and are committed to making a difference.
From a manufacturing standpoint, our efforts to produce a product often get narrowed down to how quickly and efficiently we can get that good out to market in the most cost effective manner. We battle increasing raw material costs, aging workforces, lack of skilled labour, time, etc. - the list goes on. We wear multiple hats to keep our edge in today's global and highly competitive market. So, where does time for thinking about sustainability initiatives come into play?
Purely on an environmental front, recent events around the world from floods to droughts to the deaths of millions of bees, etc. can have a potentially significant impact on our raw material production and supply. Compounding the scarcity of sourcing or rise in costs that would follow, are the growing retailer requirements for compliance along with mounting consumer demand and advocacy groups seeking change - these are clear indicators that the key to our future survival, and for the generations to come, rests on our abilities to take action now - think more innovatively from a sustainability standpoint - and share that knowledge with others.
From a business perspective, we need to look for solutions that will enable our organizations to function successfully while protecting our resources and decreasing our impact on the environment around us. Clearly, we all need to move towards adapting and building a committed culture of sustainability that is played out in all aspects of our business from planning and building, through process and people development, product and equipment design, and so forth - up and down the value chain. We need to raise awareness and seek to apply shared knowledge to build better businesses while protecting our environment.
With the above in mind, we invite you to participate and take the time to connect, consider and contemplate improving what you already have in place or encourage you to begin a process that allows you to identify some areas where you can take "sustainability strides" for business success!
Join us for a special two-day session which is taking place on October 1st and 2nd, 2013 at the Mississauga Convention Centre, Mississauga, Ontario. Complete information regarding the Speakers and Program can be found at www.sustainabilityapplied.com.
