This year's BLOOM Sustainability Applied 2013 to be held in Mississauga, Ontario on October 1st and 2nd, 2013 keeps the issue of Sustainability at the forefront for industry, community partners and service providers alike. Through an incredible lineup of workshops, keynote presentations, panel events, discussion and networking experiences, participants will be have an opportunity to connect with others, learn from industry experts and take away ideas to help better navigate the path of applied sustainability!
EMC is particularly pleased to sponsor Chad Metcalf, President of Value Stream Solutions in one of three special opening day Workshops. Chad will be speaking specifically to the value of integrating lean methodologies into sustainability goals. Chad brings a wealth of industry experience to the table and is very excited about participating as a speaker in one of this year's opening day workshops!
Integrating Sustainability into Your LEAN Thinking to Create Bottom-Line Business Value:
For the small to medium sized enterprise, the concept of sustainability can be intimidating. They can be overwhelmed by vendors that promote technology, software, services and financial products as a way to make them feel good to justify the investment because it's "saving the environment". Companies need to look at this differently, by focusing on reducing the use of energy and other resources, and eliminating wastes in the manufacture of goods by driving out inefficiencies. This workshop will provide participants with practical methods to integrate sustainability objectives into their LEAN thinking to create bottom-line benefits.
Participants in this workshop will see real examples of how other companies have used Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, TPM, 5S and PDCA problem solving and sustainable business practices to impact their bottom lines.
There are a number of great sessions beginning with three opening day workshops focused on Lean Enterprise, Procurement and Systemic Change. This special event will begin with keynote speakers addressing what it takes to Catalyze Systemic Change, Values Based-Banking, Responsible Investment as well as looking at Re-Visioning the Way We Do Business and hearing thoughts from a panel of CFO Sustainability Leaders! In addition, there are also a number of wonderful Value Panel Sessions:
- Integrating Sustainability into the Chemistry Industry
- Sourcing and Procurement
- Build Infrastructure
- Value Chain Management
- Energy Innovation
- Water Innovation
- Engaging for Transformation
