EMC Canada tookon a Cross-Province trek the week of February 23rd, 2009 meetingwith Representatives in the Food and Beverage Industry to gaininsight for the ultimate development of informative networkingopportunities for those involved in this sector. Working closelywith local OMAFRA Representatives, Economic Development andCommunity Partners in various regions, we were delighted to meetwith manufacturers representing a variety of products, corporatesizes, stellar best practices and some unique challenges from asfar east as Ottawa and south to Windsor. Our Networking Events forthis special initiative took place in back to back sessions fromCornwall, Brockville, Belleville, Durham Region, Brampton, NiagaraRegion, Guelph, Woodstock right through to beautiful Tilbury!
We tackled a variety of hot topicsin the industry and drilled down further on issues relating to– food safety, consumer awareness, inventory management,continuous improvement and lean implementation, packaging andlabelling, export and import development, transportation andlogistics, government regulations and legislation, human capital,innovation and utility challenges. The input we received fromparticipants was incredible and we are looking forward to applyingthose thoughts, ideas and best practices shared into our RegionalFood and Beverage Manufacturing Consortium Networkingactivities. In addition to roundtable networking and best practicesharing, we will be doing our best to line up some Guest Speakerswho can address some of the opportunities, challenges andinteresting issues we identified – and – without adoubt, we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead!
