Recently the FBO (Food Beverage Ontario), announced an exciting campaign aptly titled “Taste Your Future/Votre Avenir a du Goût”! Together with engaged processors, colleges, universities and community partners – a dedicated focus is underway highlighting careers in the food, beverage, bio and ag sector. As the largest manufacturing employer in Ontario with more than 125,000 people employed, the opportunities for professional growth and development are endless! The target is set – 60,000 new jobs between now and 2020!
We understand that we need to change negative perceptions and misperceptions of manufacturing and showcase the reality of today’s modern, automated, safe, clean, team-oriented and engaged working environments. We need to highlight the diversity of rewarding long-term career opportunities available, and outline the growth and development potential for candidates looking for jobs that seek their input and engagement.
Suffice it to say, whether processor or industry supporter, we are all passionate about the sector, excited about the current breadth of education and training available, and eager to employ candidates who can enable our businesses to grow. The question becomes - what can we do to help promote the dynamic careers available in our businesses? Simply, begin by joining the Taste Your Future career awareness campaign and show your support for Ontario’s food and beverage sector showcasing all that industry has to offer!
How can you help?
- Join the conversation. Follow FBO on Twitter and Facebook/TasteYourFuture
- Spread the word. Share a link to our website www.tasteyourfuture.ca with your colleagues, friends and fans via email, Twitter, Facebook or Linkedin.
- Encourage young people. If you know a young Ontarian considering post-secondary school or looking for work, tell them about the great opportunities in Ontario’s food and beverage sector
EMC is very happy to be working with FBO on this extremely worthwhile initiative! And with that, keeping FBO’s "Taste Your Future" goal in mind – 60,000 jobs by 2020 – we look forward to hearing from companies and sharing more on activities that processors are undertaking to raise awareness of careers in our industry!
My very best as always,
