Spring, now just a few weeks away, immediately conjures up images of warmer days and new growth. It’s a season that we get excited about – a time when ideas begin to surface much like the flowers in our gardens. It’s with that spirit of “development” that we are excited to be visiting with Siemen’s Canada Ltd. this month to look at Food Safety Traceability, Tracking Needs and KPI’s! We also have a blossoming group of EMC GF2 Productivity Workshops lined up across the Province and in the spirit of Continuous Improvement, our EMC GF2 Self-Diagnostic Tool offers companies the perfect means with which to identify opportunities for growth and development! Yes, there much to look forward to this Spring!
|Our upcoming EMC GF2 Food Sector Networking Event examines some of the common processing challenges faced in industry regarding the topic at hand. Our Host Siemens Canada Ltd. focus on the food and beverage sector includes plant wide automation, sustainability, flexibility, quality and tracking and tracing. Their facility, located in Concord, Ontario, is looking forward to welcoming interested Manufacturers and to sharing information and engaging in dialogue around current and future needs when it comes to Food Safety traceability and KPI’s.|
This session will address some common F&B processing challenges such as:
• Tools to help manage regulatory compliance requirements - ie FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA);
• Increasing manufacturing efficiency by tracking Uptime and Downtime and OEE;
• Providing visibility to KPI goals and real time progress;
• Increase accuracy and reduce time of productivity, quality reports and escalation procedures; and
• How to easily access plant production information remotely via web technologies.
Please mark your calendar and come out and join us for what is sure to be a very interesting morning complete with a plant tour! A simple RSVP to me is all that is required!
Along with the growth that comes from peer networking, we are also excited about the possibilities that stem from participation in our EMC GF2 Productivity Workshops! This year we have some fabulous new topics to explore and we are kicking off our 2017 sessions in London, Ottawa, Toronto and Guelph! Great trainers, interesting subject matter, and an optional follow-up Productivity Action Plan – provide the perfect elements for that spring garden of continuous improvement opportunities! Each of these special Workshops are half a day and we will be looking at: Root Cause Problem Solving, Leadership and Management of Change and an Introduction to the Kaizen Process for Implementing Change. Check below for the location nearest you:
04-Apr-17 – London - Root Cause Problem Solving/Leadership and Management of Change
09-May-17 – Ottawa – Root Cause Problem Solving/Leadership and Management of Change
10-May-17 – Brampton – Root Cause Problem Solving/Introduction to the Kaizen Process for Implementing Change

Finally, I wanted to note that our EMC GF2 Productivity Self-Diagnostic Tool is a wonderful free resource for you to tap into to gain insight on where you are today in your continuous improvement journey and to nurture your future growth. Essentially, it is a great tool to help identify where opportunities may lie. It takes about 20-25 minutes to complete and has 16 specific key areas that it looks at. This tool can provide you with an individual, a company or a sectoral perspective once the questions have been completed. Answers of course are all confidential.
