The Barrie/Midland & Area IT professionals were in top form and talkative at their Information Technology Strategic Interest Group session hosted by Innovative Automation on February 14th.
The conversation and comparing of notes and problem solving ranged through many topics including:

Supplier Quality was the topic of discussion at the February 9th Quality & Production Strategic Interest Group session of the Barrie/Midland/Muskoka consortium.
MacNeil Wash Systems in Barrie hosted the group and the discussion was informative and thought provoking.
The discussion highlighted that everything from a formal approach to dealing with proactive detection of supplier issues and corrective actions to a less formal, get on the phone and fix the situation, approach and what works for the various companies.
The members attending had approaches that ranged anywhere along the spectrum of informal to formal systems in place.

On February 8th, the Barrie/Midland & Area Human Resources folks gathered at Innovative Automation Inc. to discuss and compare notes regarding Training & Develop and Succession Planning.

The Barrie/Midland/Muskoka Quality & Production Strategic Interest Group met in January to compare notes and share best practices regarding Employee Suggestion Programs.
Our host Canplas Industries started the discussion by sharing their efforts to increase & recognize employee participation. Their employee suggestion program is a part of their cost reduction program. They use many different methods off idea collection including person-to-person, web-based, and email.
