Why are our Strategic Interest Groups successful?
EMC's more successful SIG events have a high level of commitment to attending and participating… from Senior Management through to the various key managers, supervisors, lead hands, and shop floor workers who are involved in the decision making process.
The consortium size has very little to do with how successful the SIG events are!
Some of EMC's most productive SIG events have not necessarily had the highest number of attendees. On occasion (depending on subject matter), a few smaller, focused groups have allowed for more in depth questioning and discussion for our members.
On the other end of the scale, EMC has hosted extremely successful events where the member's boardroom was 'bursting at the seams', providing increased subject matter discussion, allowing everyone to learn and really enjoy the networking session.
Sometimes a SIG topic does not top our member's priority list or they feel it does not particularly apply to their business, however the group still provides value for the engaged because the networking portion invariably gives them important information that can be applied at their facilities. Members find great value in attending for that reason, if nothing else.
EMC's SIG events provide a terrific learning & mentoring opportunity for member employees that are being "groomed" for positions that they do not yet occupy. By engaging in SIG activities and building their peer network, folks learn by accessing a wealth of information, expertise and years of experience that enables our member's succession planning.
If you have not been attending or encouraging your folks to attend, you are missing out!
If you have been attending, we will continue to see you and grow together throughout the remainder of 2017 and into the future.
