EMC Food Sector Network - SIG Event - Cambridge, ON
CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESS GROWTH IN THE FOOD SECTOR: Highlighting The Institute of Food Processing Technology programs, this special networking event will also take a closer look at the importance and role of industry-academic collaboration in our businesses, and turn the tables, as participants become students exploring Lean Implementation and Food Safety Certification with Value Stream Solutions!
We are very pleased to be visiting with the Institute of Food Processing Technology at Conestoga College and invite your participation as we explore their programs and facilities, engage in some interesting discussion around collaborative opportunities and take a moment to do a little learning on our own! An overview of this special SIG networking event follows below:
Education, Experience and Collaboration:
The Institute of Food Processing Technology (IFPT) at Conestoga College is the only food processing training centre of its kind in Ontario that offers exciting training opportunities to secure a much needed skilled workforce and address the current shortage in the food processing industry. The IFPT has a number of resources including an 8000 square foot pilot plant fully equipped with a variety of different processing lines. This is a wonderful opportunity to LEARN and EXPERIENCE an overview of their programs and tour a phenomenal training facility.
Building on the educational opportunities the IFPT presents, Greg Merlihan, Director of National Sales, for Karma Candy in Hamilton, will be sharing his best practices and insights on the value to business in developing and sustaining collaborative relationships with academic facilities such as the IFPT.
Utilizing Lean to Achieve, Protect and Sustain Certification:
Continuing in the stream of building knowledge, the second portion of our special networking event will focus on "Utilizing Lean to Achieve, Protect and Sustain Certification" and provoke thought on:
- How to achieve, protect and sustain Food Safety Certification
- Moving from a "reactive" to a "proactive" culture
- Raising the bar on employee engagement
- Approaching "problem solving" through "problem avoidance"
Our Guest Speaker, Tom Bechtel, Senior Advisor, Value Stream Solutions, comes with a wealth of experience in the Food Processing Sector.
