Food & Beverage Bear Pit Session

Double Session

Learn from EMC members, as we moderate an open & honest discussion about the issues facing the members themselves and initiatives they made to compete and succeed:  "Where we were, What we did, Lean successes achieved and What's Next?" This 'bear pit' format panel explore what works, what doesn't, and why… from an EMC member manufacturer's point-of-view.

The Garlic Box Inc:
Since 1997 Jackie Rowe has been navigating the challenges of carving a niche market to brand garlic in the information era of global commerce and increasing environmental clutter.  Branding her company's most valuable asset, Ontario grown garlic, required a compelling point of differentiation.   A long-term perspective of customer needs has cracked open the marketplace for expanded opportunities in the crowded, value-added food category.

GFTC:
"Building the Case for Food Safety" The Food Safety Landscape is changing and the implementation of robust food safety programs has now become 'The Price of Admission' for food companies who wish to become or remain competitive.  Aside from growing market factors, the traditional reasons pertaining to due diligence and brand protection remain as important as ever.  Topping off these reasons is the fact that implementing a food safety program can wind up reducing a company's operating costs.  These concepts will be explored as Paul Medeiros "builds the case for food safety".

OMAFRA:

  • To provide an overview of the Ontario Food and Beverage Processing sector;
  • To outline the key challenges and opportunities for the sector; and
  • To provide an overview of how OMAFRA supports the sector through programs and services.
