EMC Energy Initiative
Energy Priorities:
EMC Members Speak:
Through significant consultation and a needs survey of EMC members, several key energy priorities were identified by the manufacturers.
EMC Members also ranked their top five energy priorities for 2008 as follows:
1. Security of Supply
2. Energy Conservation
3. Cost Savings
4. Budgetability
5. Environmental Footprint
Although the cost of energy is a prevailing theme, the strategies needed to meet the priorities are varied.

Harnessing the Power of EMC
Comprehensive Energy Initiative for Manufacturers
Energy continues to be a major topic of concern for all industry. Manufacturers have been increasingly challenged with unstable energy costs and security of supply, as the volatility of market deregulation has left many electricity and natural gas business consumers at the mercy of price increases/decreases and an uncertainty as to where to turn for energy expertise.
Through significant consultation with EMC members, several key energy priorities were identified and a a unique strategic plan was developed for manufacturers.
EMC sought expertise from several leading energy stakeholders, including the Ministry of Energy, ECNG Energy LP, 360 Energy, Bruce Power, Union Gas, Enbridge Gas and other sector leaders, to determine what energy best practices could be developed as manufacturing specific solutions.
In 2008, a comprehensive EMC Energy Initiative was launched for our members, with three focus areas emerging as priority for immediate action:
Phase 1: Energy Cost Issues / EMC Energy Purchasing Group
Phase 2: Energy Best Practices and Management Strategies
Phase 3: Energy Conservation, Alternative Sources & Technology

- Do volatile energy prices affect your business?
- How would your budget look at the end of the year, if your energy costs swing by 30% per month, as we have seen occur in the past year?
- If you could take some of the guess work out of budgeting for energy costs, would you?
- Are you tired of being inundated with phone calls and drop-in visits from retail energy marketers?
Don't miss this opportunity to take control of your energy costs...
