K-W/Cambridge SIG Networking Events (Manufacturers Only, Registration Required)

The Kitchener-Waterloo/Cambridge EMC SIG Networking Events consists of 5 structured networking events hosted by manufacturing facilities in the region: Sr Managers (7:30 am), Continuous Improvement (9:30 am), Health & Safety/Engineering (12:00 noon), and Human Resources (2:00 pm).
Location: Metokote Canada Corp. 500 Raglin Rd, Cambridge, ON
7:30 am: Sr Managers: Leaders of organizations network from a strategic perspective whereby the host provides an overview of their business model, core competencies, and strategies folowed by a tour. Particpants are challenged to identify a "take away" and a suggestion for improvement for the host from a srtategic level. Roundtable discussion ensues facilitated to cater to leaders of organizations relating to how they plan to make their business grow.
9:30 am: Continuous Improvement: For anyone responsible for CI in your organization, the host provides a CI problem for the group to solve that is sent ahead in the agenda. Following a tour, the group reviews Lean Principles then breaks out into brainstorming groups to focus on the problem. Each group reports back to the host, providing a long list of suggestions for solutions to the problem. This is a powerful session that harnesses the knowledge of manufacturing professionals across all sectors. Particpants gain insight into their own challenges with similar problems back in their own facilities.
12:00 Noon: Health & Safety (Jan, March, June, Oct)/Engineering (Feb, April, Sept, Nov)- This time slots rotates on a monthly Basis between H&S and Engineering.
Health & Safety: Topic driven designed to cater to those responsible for H&S and also committee reps. Content also complimentes those involed with WSIB Safety Groups. For monthly topic, please see the schedule on the K-W consortium page or contact mbaker@emccanada.org
Engineering: All Engineering professionals in manufacturing experience challenges relating to how their job design interacts with other business functions in the facility. The host will present some current issues and challenges relating to the engineering function for members to brainstorm and benchmark best practices and solutions.
2:00 pm- Human Resources: For HR professionals in manufacturing, this is a topic driven forum that involves benchmarking exercises and guest speakers as required. For monthly topic, please see the schedule on the K-W consortium page or contact mbaker@emccanada.org
