On Tuesday June 15th the Windsor Consortium of Excellence in Manufacturing participated in a comprehensive peer to peer leaning SIG Event.

The session dealt with best practices in Claims Management.

Lisa Granger from EMC Member Company Mahle Filter Systems in Tilbury Ont led the discussion. Lisa presented the Claims Management Program she has developed at Mahle, which is highly innovative and successful. Lisa has presented this program to the Chatham-Kent Consortium, London Consortium and Midwestern Ontario Consortium over the past year. Every time she presents if brings out many questions from the members attending the SIG and provides them with some easily implementable ideas to help improve their programs.

Lisa Granger and Mahle Filter Systems was recently honoured at the "Advantage Through Excellence" EMC Conference in Hamilton with an EMC Award of Excellence in the Heath and Safety Area!

The discussion touched on;

  • Health & Safety Programs including Targets and Objectives.
  • Incident Reporting Procedures including corrective actions.
  • Claims Management Program (including WISB and other legal requirements.
  • Amalgamations/claim history
  • Medical intervention
  • FAFs
  • Lost time  reporting/wages
  • SIEF
  • NEER Projections
  • RTW Offers
  • Re-Employment obligations
  • IMEs
  • LMR

I have posted Lisa's full presentation on the Windsor Consortium home page, also a injury tracking chart and a normal healing time chart.

We had a great turn out from Windsor members at this SIG. This being the Consortiums only second SIG event I am pleased with the response and support.

I would like to thank Anchor Lamina in Windsor for hosting this event! We will pick up the sessions again on September, more to follow on topics, dates and locations.

Thanks!

Jason
