Changing Seasons!

Beautiful weather and great fall colours brightened our trip up north for our September Strategic Interest Group meetings in Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and North Bay. EMC was very fortunate and proud to provide incredible guest speakers in Laura Rourke, Excellence in Manufacturing, Glenn Brannen, Focused Workplace, Sarah O’Neill, National Scientific and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Tibor Turo Manager at NSERC.

Laura Rourke Kicked off the session with a presentation on WSIB Claims Management.  Laura has a wealth of knowledge in dealing with the WSIB and was available to answer any and all questions related to claims management.  Excerpts from her presentation:

On October 20th, 2009 our Monthly Strategic Interest Group Meeting was held at Filtrec in Sault Ste. Marie. The topic for this moth was quick changeovers, / set up reduction or what is commonly referred to SMED…Single Minute Exchange of dies. The discussion revolved around the reason for pursuing quick set ups to begin with. It was pointed out that it was extremely important to get the main stake holders involved in any activity in the order of set up reduction.
