EMC President & General Manager Al Diggins announced the appointment of a new Health & Safety, Environmental Specialist this week, along with a broader range of services and in-house resources that this transition has enabled.

"On behalf of EMC's Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Rourke to the newly created position of Health & Safety, Environmental Specialist" said Al Diggins.  "Laura brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to EMC and is ideally suited to assist our Safety Group and mentor all members in their pursuit of excellence." 

Some highlights of Laura's experience and expertise:

• Managed Environment, Health and Safety operations for the multi-site Canadian Division of a rubber mixing and automotive parts manufacturer and most recently a global electronics/communications company manufacturing operations.  She started her career managing a landfill site.
• 15 years Environment, Health & Safety Management
• Is both an Environmental Engineer and a Canadian Registered Safety Professional
• Implemented and managed multi-site ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
• Will be an excellent resource to members on topics such as environmental requirements; safety legislation; claims management and return to work; due diligence; wellness;

Laura will be using her vast experience and expertise to bring new and exciting ideas and highly value-added services to our Safety Group members.  All EMC members will benefit, through SIG initiatives, business briefings and other special events. Laura's personal goal is to continue to help make EMC's Safety Groups "the best in Ontario", while setting a new standard of excellence in providing services to EMC members, most importantly as a full-time in-house resource.
