Help for employers wondering what to do to comply with this new legislation
What has your company done to prepare for this legislation? Was it easy? What resources did you find most helpful?
On January 1st, 2012, employers are required to comply with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. There are different requirements depending on the number of employees the company has (more or less than 20). This legislation is governed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. On their website, companies can find a number of resources to help them with implementation which I've attached or you can access through the link below.

By following the above link, you can choose which stream applies to your company (more or less than 20 employees). Many experts are saying compliance should be easy with simple clear plans and training. Increasing awareness with your employees regarding how to interact and communicate with customers who have disabilities, assistive devices, service animals, support persons helps create an inclusive environment that benefits everyone.
