Electrical Contacts Ltd in Hanover hosted this month's HR/H&S SIG and Laura Rourke, one of EMC's Health & Safety guru's attended to present on the new Green Papers re: reforming WSIB and to answer any NEER questions the members had.

Laura's presentation has been added to the member area for the Owen Sound consortium.

Laura indicated that when looking at the NEER statements - even numbers above 2 mean an inactive claim and odd numbers above 2 mean an active claim.  In order to close a claim a form 009C will need to be completed.  A copy of this form has also been added to the Owen Sound member area.

Discussion, also, touched upon the Ministry of Labour blitzes that are posted on the MOL website.  It has been members' experience that the MOL will look at everything once they visit - not just the identified blitz area(s).  A compnay can have multiple visits if it has been flagged and is on the MOL's radar.

This session was lively and Laura's presentation on the position papers regarding changes at the WSIB was very informative.  It will be interesting to see how it all pans out over the next while.....stay tuned!
