This session was special for a number of reasons! It was the first time we had a session that revolved around a pre-determined theme...”Innovation”. Also it was our first session with new EMC Sponsor Ernst & Young LLP. EMC is pleased to be developing a relationship with a great company like Ernst and Young. It is through these types of relationships that EMC will be able to continue to provide the tools, resources and services that we presently do to our members.
On Wednesday October 26th EMC London/Oxford Consortium hosted a very special session at McCormick Canada.
At this event 3 EMC Members shared examples of "innovation" at their facilities.
Paul Hogendoorn - Cofounded EMC Member Company OES 30 years ago as a hobby - as a vehicle to chase dreams and see how far hard work and "outside-of-the-box thinking" could take him. The vision soon expanded and created employment opportunities for others eager to see their talents and energies tested and applied. Today OES manufactures electronic controls for mission critical industries, as well as scoreboards and scoring and timing systems for schools, recreational leagues, and right up to the pro leagues. Their customers and distribution network span the globe. Paul shared OES best practices on "innovation - product".
Brian Hughes - Vice President, Human Resources with JMP Engineering based in London, Ontario. Brian has 20 years of experience in Operations, Information Technology and Human Resources. He has worked across multiple industries including Financial Services, Pension Funds, Foreign Exchange, Manufacturing, Food Processing, and Consulting Services. He has Lead companies to achieve Top 100 Employer status and recognition for Excellence in Human Resources. His leadership roles in strategic planning, high energy and creative thinking provide interesting perspectives to topical discussions. Brian shared JMP's best practices on "innovation people."
Kim Wolf - Director of Manufacturing McCormick Canada. Previously with Eveready Battery Company as Plant Engineer, Maintenance Manager than Pepperidge Farm and Campbell Soup for 12 years as Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, and Plant Manager. Kim was a founding member of The Original Cakerie team in London as the VP of Operations, starting up a Greenfield site. Experience in: establishing six-sigma and reliability processes, training teams and getting buy in for programs to drive results. High performance work systems - motivating employees to be involved - not just "punch the clock". Kim shared McCormick best practices on "innovation process."
All three speakers were incredible!
After the speakers the 75 members in attendance enjoyed a plant tour and group continuous improvement excise.
Please see the power point presentations from this session attached below.
This session was a huge success! Plan on another one like it in 2012.
Thanks
