It has often been said to me by EMC Members that there is a huge disconnect between what kids in High School are told about a career in Manufacturing and what one really entails. A career in Manufacturing has not been something that Guidance Councillors would traditionally encourage their best and brightest to pursue.

To help change this perception the London Consortium of Excellence in Manufacturing along with the Elgin Middlesex Oxford Workforce Planning and Development Board and the London Region Manufacturing Council set up a day of tours for about 75 local London area high school guidance councillors at 5 local EMC Member facilities.

The five EMC Member facilities that opened their doors for the Guidance Councillors were Attica Manufacturing, OES Inc., Transform Automotive, Hanwha Canada and Trojan UV.

This session was special for a number of reasons! It was the first time we had a session that revolved around a pre-determined theme...”Innovation”. Also it was our first session with new EMC Sponsor Ernst & Young LLP. EMC is pleased to be developing a relationship with a great company like Ernst and Young. It is through these types of relationships that EMC will be able to continue to provide the tools, resources and services that we presently do to our members.

On Wednesday October 26th EMC London/Oxford Consortium hosted a very special session at McCormick Canada.

At this event 3 EMC Members shared examples of "innovation" at their facilities.

The vision soon expanded and created employment opportunities for others eager to see their talents and energies tested and…

Generally regional EMC Members meet in Member facilities and the SIG will include a Plant Tour and Group Continuous Improvement Exercise. The Group CI exercise is when members participating on the plant tour are asked to pick out 3 things they saw on the tour that they liked and three…
