Recently, Strathcona Paper LP, the most eco-friendly paperboard manufacturer in North America learned that it had won the 2010 Pulp & Paper International (PPI) Award for Innovative Product of the Year. Honoured for its GreenChoice 100 product, the award acknowledges companies that demonstrate continuous leadership to support environmental stewardship.
Last October 2010, Strathcona Paper LP, announced that it was a finalist for two 2010 Pulp & Paper International (PPI) Awards. Strathcona was shortlisted in the Environmental Strategy of the Year - Mill Award category, being the only North American company honoured. Recognized for its unique GreenChoice 100 product, it also garnered a nomination for Innovative Product of the Year. This is the second year Strathcona Paper has been recognized for its ongoing commitment to the environment.
Strathcona Paper's GreenChoice 100 is the first and only product of its kind in North America made from 100 percent recycled fibres. It is 100 percent recyclable, 100 percent carbon neutral and Strathcona purchases 100 percent clean renewable energy to offset energy used in its manufacture.

The PPI Awards recognizes the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector. Launched in 2009, the annual awards ceremony provides an opportunity for pulp and papermakers worldwide to show off their achievements on a global platform.

Now in its second year, the PPI Awards program honours leadership, vision and innovation within the pulp and paper industry and are the only global awards dedicated to recognizing the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector. Industry renowned names such as Teresa Presas (CEPI), Duncan Pollard (WWF), Rod Young (RISI), Roger Warwick (Association of Print and Paper Technicians) and Jim Keller (ICCA) were involved in the judging, along with experts in different fields.
