I’m not sure where the summer went –seems like the summer weather just started! But it seems that the kids are back at school (heck the dollar store already has their Halloween and Christmas stuff out) so what are you doing for back to school?

What are you doing to continuously educate and challenge your brain?   It doesn't necessarily have to be formal education.  Even attending a CI SIG can get you in another plant that may think about similar problems to your own but in a different way or have you talked to Stef Yakimishyn (syakimishyn@emccanada.org) about ourTHRC online training courses?  At a recent EMC staff meeting in Owen Sound we were all tasked to take the Outlook course as well as a couple other business related ones.

For me, I'm taking my 6th course towards my Masters in Adult Education and Community Development at the University of Toronto.  This course is on training effectiveness.  I started the program because I wanted to get more involved in training adults but also because I wanted to continue to challenge my mind.  I have found that I have learned as much from my fellow classmates as I have from the formal course material.  There are lots of colleges and universities that offer a variety of courses in a variety of study options (online, in class, Saturdays).

What are you doing about continuing to educate yourself?  The reality is that the world is changing so fast we can't just live with what we know. Have you taken a course that was really valuable to you in your job? What was it?  Who would you recommend it for?

What can I tell you about me? Well for starters I'm the mom of 2 great boys - ages 7 and 10. They take up most of my spare time which is a blast. They love to try new sports - this summer is…
