Following a SIG event an EMC Senior Manager member provided the following insights:"I thought it was interesting that all the original ideas 'we' came up with today are the core ideas and history of success of EMC. Yet 'we' couldn't 'get it' until the ideas became 'ours'. It's kind of like being married. When a wife says her car needs to be fixed and her husband doesn't think so, until he drives it and it breaks down on the way to hockey. Then the car needs to be fixed!" An EMC Member

The SIG events have been very valuable to our company and this is one association that definitely pays for itself many times over. The plant tours and discussions on how different companies manage their processes and people have been invaluable to us as a senior management team and to me as an owner. We have determined what is important to us as a company and are now managing these items through metrics which have been borrowed from other member companies. We have increased our productivity 10%, improved on time delivery performance, and our quality improvement by more than 40%. This has all been done while maintaining a no lost time injury record of 4 years. We manage now what we measure and this has been a great tool for us, especially through the last 2 years of economic uncertainty. Over the last year I have dropped association memberships that do not add value to my company. The EMC was never considered. We are a very satisfied member.  An EMC Member

Even if I bring one improvement back that we can use or modify to fit our process is a win-win for us.  The SIG process in itself is value added and the EMC membership fee is a small price to pay for a year of available knowledge and a network of sources that can be tapped into long after the SIG.
