About

“Nobody knows the issues that affect manufacturing, better than the manufacturers themselves. Being able to engage manufacturers is a key reason why EMC (Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium) is so ‘in-tune’ with manufacturers and the people that makes them tick.”
Since founding EMC nearly 27 years ago and incorporating as a unique not-for-profit organization in 1997,
Al Diggins has guided EMC’s growth and development from a small 18 member local association, into ‘Canada’s Largest Manufacturing Consortium’.
Al’s ability to forge trusted relationships across all sectors of industry is a key reason why EMC’s network remains strong and vibrant, with members continuously able to share their ideas, best practices and expertise with their peers.
EMC currently provides primary expertise and peer-to-peer network facilitation to 900+ corporate manufacturing members and 130,000+ individual employee members, who are active in 53 regional consortiums, encompassing more than 200+ communities in Ontario, BC, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI and Quebec. That ability comes with experience.
An entrepreneur at heart, Al’s 35+ years of experience – acquired through executive & senior management positions in manufacturing and banking industries – gives him the unique ability to lead his team, helping manufacturers to achieve competitive advantage in all facets of their business.
Al often comments his team has “just enough ‘grey hair’ to help this succeed”, taking pride in its ability to listen to members, provide proactive solutions, as well as having the abundant energy necessary to rapidly read and react to any and all requirements that EMC members – and manufacturers throughout Canada– may have.
